Biography

Graduating this spring from Ohio University with a BFA in Acting Performance and a certificate in Actor-Musicianship playing percussion (along with a minor in Political Science), Reed has spent the last four years performing in a variety of theatrical settings. Most recently playing Trent Oliver in Tantrum Theater’s The Prom, he has also performed professionally with Tantrum as a percussion actor-musician in Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812, along with Demetrius in the Wisconsin Shakespeare Festivals inaugural production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In his time at Ohio University Reed has performed in 6 productions including contemporary plays, classical text, Ancient Greek tragedies, and musical theatre. He is a jack of all trades performer, and is dedicated to continuing to perform in all types of theatre. He has also acted in numerous BFA and MFA short films and passion projects.

Born in St. Charles, Illinois, Reed has wanted to be an actor since childhood. A foundational moment for Reed occurred in the 7th grade on a field trip to Chicago to see The Lion King. The opening number, The Circle of Life, opened his eyes to what was possible through performance and the profound effect it can have on people. The magic of that moment made the rest of the world melt away, and he was completely immersed in the beauty that surrounded him. Since then, he has dedicated his life to being a part of performances that instill that same sense of magic in audiences. Giving audience members that same sensation of the rest of the world disappearing is what it’s all about for him.

Outside of performance Reed spends his time cooking new recipes, reading (Kurt Vonnegut is his favorite), and crocheting. He loves getting together with his friends, late nights running at the gym, and spending free evenings at the movie theater. He’s played concert percussion since elementary school, and played hockey from childhood to mid-high school. His favorite movie is Challengers, and his ultimate acting goal is to be the protagonist in an HBO series (think something like Kendall Roy or Barry Berkman).
